According to leading employers, a Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT) ranks among the top advanced technical degrees that professionals can earn based upon salary potential, long-term career advancement, and job growth through 2020. Valparaiso University has developed the MSIT program to help students advance toward high-level IT positions—whether or not students enter the program with technical skills.
Housed within Valpo’s Computing and Information Sciences Department (CIS), this 37-credit MSIT program is designed to position graduates to be information systems managers, software application developers, network or software engineers, computer analysts, web developers, IT architects, and more.
Valpo’s MSIT program prepares professionals and undergraduate students (from any undergraduate or professional background) for IT careers in the U.S. and abroad. Students may add specialized certificates and concentrations within information, cyber security, computing, and management courses that can increase marketability even more. Students receive one-on-one attention from faculty as they gain hands-on experience through internships.
The value of a Valpo education extends to its ethical perspective on issues within the IT field as delivered by faculty with experience in the IT field. Hands-on coursework in small classes allows Valpo students to receive individual attention—from professors as well as a department-specific advisor and internship coordinator. Online MSIT programs are also available, and these enjoy the same benefits as the MSIT on-campus programs.
